Why $50?
The average library cost of a La Vista resident is
approximately $50. This is paid via
taxes throughout the year.
What do you get for $50 as a non-resident library
user?
- For
one price, you, your spouse and children can check out:
Books! New books arrive at the
library every month! We've just added comic books to our
collection. The library also serves the Metropolitan Community
College's Sarpy Center, so we have educational materials for you to use as
well. Audio books: both CD and cassette for those long trips or to pass time
in traffic.
Music CDs: our collection is expanding!
Videos: both educational and entertainment
And our growing Movie DVD collection
You can even check out magazines.
- Did
you know that what you would pay for 2 hardback books ($25 each) will get
you one year’s access to La Vista Public Library’s entire collection?
How much have you spent on movie rentals this last year?!
- Even
if the library doesn’t own a book, as a library user: for $2.00, the
library will get the book from another library for your use.
- The $50 membership includes access to the library Reference team!
The reference desk is your one-stop shopping for those questions you
need answered. Need an address or a zip code? Wondering what Internet sites offer reliable medical
information? Call, e-mail or
stop by!
- Did we mention our computer lab? The
La Vista Public Library has a computer lab complete with a typewriter and
a network scanner. Library
patrons are eligible to sign up for computer classes – at no charge.
And the Internet doesn’t cost you anything here!
Surf the web. Set up a
free e-mail account. The
library staff can help you learn how!
- The library has educational computer games children can access while they
are at the library. These games
help children become familiar with a computer and have fun while they are
doing it! Stop by to see our
collection.
- Story times are available for toddlers and preschoolers.
These sessions are geared to help your children get used to a group
setting, taking turns, and enjoying reading!
- Special programming?!
Our Summer Reading Program is expanding to include teens, thanks to
our new staff person dedicated to Teens and their needs. In this last year, we’ve started a book club, a group that
focuses on family history, and adult programming: authors that come and talk
about their books. The library
also offers seasonal activities for children.
